Portland, OR - February 17th, 2010

Alpha Broadcasting has announced the launch of a new program designed to train new sellers in every aspect of the sales process lead by veteran KINK Account Executive Tom Mittelstaedt.  Among the points to be covered with this new initiative will be increased general sales knowledge which takes the rookies through the entire process from prospecting to cold-calling to getting the appointment, conducting the needs analysis, creating proposals, the art of negotiation and closing the deal.  Additionally, Tom will outline the advantages of radio advertising and help the sales team find new categories which can lead to new business.  Weekly meetings between Tom and the new sellers will keep everyone on track towards achieving their goals.

Mittelstaedt has been on the KINK sales team since 2000.  A 1997 graduate of the Portland Area Radio Council’s Radio University, he has also worked in advertising for newspapers and television.

"Tom has displayed strong leadership skills during his tenure at KINK offering continued guidance to our new sellers," commented Alpha Broadcasting Director of Sales, Amy Leimbach.  "This is a natural progression for him and a really great fit.  The rookies really appreciate Tom’s advice, as well as his depth of knowledge when it comes to the sales process.  I’m very glad to formalize this into a real training program that will help everyone in the long run."

Alpha Broadcasting owns and operates Portland radio stations KINK, KUPL, KUFO, KXTG, KXL and KCMD with a sales team of over forty Account Executive and Managers.  Headquartered in Portland, Oregon Alpha was formed by Larry Wilson, Bob Proffitt and Endeavour Capital, also in Portland.  Wilson founded Citadel Communications Corporation, before it was sold to Forstmann Little & Company in 2001 for $2 billion.
